Here’s a truly unusual item of ephemera. Back in 1994, Lauda-Air partnered with SkyPhone to provide passengers with the ability to make calls during flight. Skyphone was notoriously expensive, and the service was only available to ‘Amadeus’ business class passengers, directly in the seat. Economy passengers could get a phone from the rear cabin if they so wished. This card shows you how to use your credit card to make calls with the Skyphone. It shows a very classic British Telecom logo and mentions that Lauda-Air was a partner of Lufthansa.
We have no idea how old the card is. We can only say for certain it’s post-1994. Given its age, the card is in remarkable condition. There’s some sign of yellowing with age, but that’s to be expected. This is likely to be fairly rare as who in their right mind would want it. We don’t even know how we got it. Grab it for your collection today.
